. . .

Super badass song....if only your kick didn't muffle the entire mix and turn it to muddy mush=/

. . .

Well I really liked the structure of the song, however there's a few critical notes I should make. First off, the kick is fairly weak and I would say just a tad excessive. The reverb decay on a lot of your effects is way too long as well. Anyways I like the use of reverse kicks and the percussion/fx part satisfied by love for percussion solos so kudos. Cheers!

ReFreezed responds:

I don't think I would like a much harder kick, but I guess it is a bit excessive. I tried making the reverb shorter on the fx but I simply like it as it is now. It's a matter of taste I guess...

Percussion solos are freaking awesome. :) Thanks a lot for reviewing! Cheers!

. . .

Well mate, I don't know how to explain other then the timbres of your instruments are really cheesy. Also there's no power to it(lower end). I do however like that snare a lot.

. . .

Olay! That snare has some really really highs going on in it. You might want to either turn down the fader a little or reEQ it. Otherwise I actually really like the percussion because it varies a lot and caries a lot of motion. Interesting overall use of timbres bro. Cheers!

pichuscute0 responds:

Lol, sorry about that. I bet my headphones don't pick it up so I didn't notice it. I'll EQ it out. Thanks for the review.

Good to see your still in the game. I really like the effects in the first half, however I feel like the lead is kinda overly simple(not the melody but the timbre). Classic Nubbin piano sounds better once it gets into that in the second half. Anways keep at it boss. Cheers!

nubbinownz responds:

It's intentionally simplistic. I didn't want the focus to be on the lead at the beginning. I actually hate leads lol.

. . .

This isn't electro music (I don't even think it's mixable), and you should really read over your description before submitting =/
Cheers

DjMontana responds:

hey man...

ok short anwser... This track Nags more in that direction so i thought i mention it!
But It Seems the discription is more important that the Song itself !!

There's a couple critical notes I should go over from my perspective before getting to the good stuff.

The sound that pops in at 14 seconds seems really sudden and doesn't seem to fit in until the bassline comes in. My suggestion would be to up the attack length and tension on that bad boy and make it longer and have it start a little sooner.

The vocals really come out of nowhere too. Maybe some vocal stutters or vocal effects beforehand would better hint that actual singing is coming since it doesn't sound like it should come in on a downbeat which it would normally to sound expected or natural.

The backbeat is fairly flat or weak sounding. I would definitely make that clap more present and up the sweet spot in the mid range on the EQ.

The drop at 1:30 is really my style of drop man! It's sick! but....the bass line that you dropped in took over the mix! oops! Another EQ dilemma for you. The hats are inaudible basically =/

The vocal effects with the filtering sounds really...off. I am not sure how to help on that one.

Now the good stuff!
First off, I always love the structure of your songs, and this one is no different. The intro & the drop are key components to a dance song and you handled the shit outta that shit haha. The vocal effect at the very end(3:32) is my favorite one. The first bassline that comes in at 0:29 is my favorite synth timbre and the first couple measures of percussion contain my favorite beat of the song.

Anyways it's definitely a plus to get some vocal experience in! Vocals and effects and EQ's are like a totally separate territory from everything else. Overall I liked the song, but was iffy about the vocal effects. 4/5. 7/10.

Mans0n responds:

hehe thanks for the awesome criticism! and about the vocals when they start.. it was hard to get them to start anywhere else and have them onbeat. but ill try throwing in some Vocal FX or stutters a few bars before. and when you say the vocal FX are off, do you mean the gaps in the Highpass? like how the whole song is filtered, then suddenly not then back? because i just thought that sounded cool. since i seem to do my mixing the same for everysong (like buildups) and i just wanted to try something different. though keep in mind this was made in like 2 days lmao
i could have not uploaded it and kept working on it and submitted it when it was flawless. but im lazy.

. . .

I feel like this is what Basshunter really writes before he hires someone to reEQ and master his music haha. What program did you switch from?

. . .

I like everything about it, but me being the nit picky person I am I'll point out some criticism. Were you going for a live feeling? If so then I think you did an excellent job on the bass, but the sax definitely sounds electronic and the drums are far too upfront in the mix. It's kinda KgZ style with the drums actually which is a good thing for sure. Another thing is the lack of instruments. I know you were going for a minimalistic feeling but I still think you could switch between a sax and trumpet and clarinet or somethin to change up the timbre and keep the song rollin better. Anyways overall 9/10 & 5/5. Cheers BK!

Box-Killa responds:

hey logic. Yeah i really couldnt find anything that was jazzy enough, other than a sax, but even the sax is a bit to eletronic. I would really like to get someone to play sax for it. Do you know anyone on the audio portal who could?

Yeah I went for a small room, live kinda sound. I like the bass too :D
